About the therapies

Before each session I carry out a confidential health check with my client.  I also discuss what the client wants from their treatment and which therapies or combination of therapies they would like. Please allow at least 10 to 15 minutes extra for the initial session.

Holistic Massage

Holistic massage aims to relax the whole person, and to promote a deep state of relaxation where the body can rest and heal. Clients lie on a massage table and are covered, except for the area being massaged.  I use Tui massage waxes and oils, scented or unscented.

Deep tissue massage

Holistic massage incorporates some deeper tissue massage to work on areas of tension, and feedback from the client allows me to work as firmly or lightly as the client requires. A therapeutic scale of pressure can be used to provide feedback.

Holistic Pulsing

Holistic pulsing is a gentle rocking of the body and can be incorporated into a massage to help promote relaxation. Alternatively, I can give a whole session of holistic pulsing where arms, legs, and head are also given pulsing. An Holistic pulsing session is given on a table, and clients are fully clothed.

See the Holistic Pulsing Guild (NZ) website for more information and an introductory video about holistic pulsing.    www.holisticpulsing.org.nz

Reiki

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not massage, nor is it affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice.  It is a subtle and effective form of energy work where healing energy is transmitted through the practitioner's hands.  This energy does not come from the practitioner, but is transmitted by them.

Clients are fully clothed for a reiki session, and relax on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner places their hands in certain positions, either on the body, or just above it.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one’s personal wellness.

Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.
